What is Polymyalgia Rheumatica? (PMR)

An autoimmune disease discovered by Bruce in 1888.

Symptoms: Patients have experienced a gradual exhaustion “flue-like” suddenly overwhelming them including fever, weakness and often weight loss appearing a week or two before onslaught.

Additional symptoms: includes deep neck pain; shoulder pain; pain in yoke area, spine, legs, hips, hands and pelvis. Persistent morning stiffness is prevalent.

Onslaught: Often overnight. At times slow discomfort particularly when sleeping: patient feels pain in yoke and hips that can awaken the patient suddenly.

Diagnoses: Rheumatologist and Internists are recommended to evaluate patient conditions. There is no reliable diagnostic tool PMR is often misdiagnosed
