Management
For the foreseeable future the founders, Joan L. Reiter and Edward C. Reiter, actively manage and direct all aspects of NMRFoundation. NMRF is structured to include a Board of Directors and a Board of Advisors who serve in a volunteer capacity. As a matter of policy and in the interests of maintaining low overhead costs, paid staff is held to a minimum. As NMRF expands and opens new states paid Executive Directors for each state will be added to the management staff. Salaries will be commensurate with Industry standards.
CEO / CO-FOUNDER:
Joan L. Reiter has an extensive and multifaceted background that spans a wide range of accomplishments. She is an artist whose works have been shown on major television shows (General Hospital); a therapist and career counselor within the fields of psychology, business management, public and employee relations. Ms. Reiter started her career as a fashion designer at the House of Lily Dache, New York City, continuing in the field of fashion as Head of Interior Design for an exclusive showroom in Anchorage, Alaska. Ms. Reiter has written magazine and newspaper articles, served as fashion editor and later publisher of the Alaska Women Magazine; has lectured to business and special interest groups.
Ms Reiter founded the Breast Cancer Detection Center in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1972 as a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) Organization, a free standing, no cost facility, open to the public. Her mentor, Philip Strax, MD. New York, was the guiding force in the design and establishment of the pilot program for the original 17 mammography clinics throughout the United States in the early to mid 1970’s. The Fairbanks BCDC remains open and active to this date, servicing the needs of Alaska women.
As the Founder of the National Medical Research Foundation (NMRF), Ms. Reiter now turns her energy, drive, organizational and creative talents to the success of NMRFoundation and it’s Mission. Ms Reiter plays an active role in the management and direction of the NMRFoundation and for the foreseeable future serves as its CEO.
PRESIDENT / CO-FOUNDER:
Edward C. Reiter served his country as a naval officer in World War II, and the Korean War. He has a background of achievement in three major careers, Construction Industry, Aero Space Industry and Real Estate Industry. Mr. Reiter has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Washington and built a first career in commercial and industrial construction where he has built docks, warehouses, churches, schools, apartments, office buildings, water and sewer treatment plants with underground distribution systems and many more projects.
Mr. Reiter joined the Aero Space Industry and was instrumental in developing the concept, design criteria, design and construction of the operational Minuteman sites, the first line of defense throughout the United States, during the “cold war”,. From the Minuteman program he became associated with the Saturn Program and worked with Dr Wernher von Braun and his team of German scientists in Huntsville, Alabama to develop the concept and design criteria for Launch Pad 39 at Cape Canaveral, Florida – the first “man on the moon” lifted off from Launch Pad 39. This is still the main launch complex for all space vehicles launched from Cape Canaveral (Kennedy Space Center). Mr. Reiter was also instrumental in activating the Michoud Plant in New Orleans, LA. In the early 1990’s, Mr. Reiter became active in real estate and has been involved in commercial real estate development projects and commercial sales as well as residential sales. He holds an active real estate license in the state of Arizona
As Co-Founder of the National Medical Research Foundation, Mr. Reiter turns his energy, drive and background experience to the success of the NMRFoundation and its missi9on. Mr. Reiter plays an active role in the management and direction of the NMRFoundation, and for the foreseeable future serves as its President and COO.
VICE PRESIDENT:
Michael R. Reiter served his country as a naval officer in the Gulf War and in Desert Storm. He is a Navy Seal and Pilot, flying both helicopters and large 4 engine planes (DC9). He is a graduate of the “War College” and retired from the navy after some 20 years of service. Since retirement, he has received his “Law” degree and is now a practicing attorney in the State of Florida.
